Myriad Multi-Format Film Holder

Preparation Guide

Before each digitising session, follow these steps to prepare your Myriad film holder for use.

Wash your hands with soap and water, then rinse and dry them thoroughly. If you have lint-free cotton gloves or undusted nitrile gloves, wear them to avoid getting fingerprints on the unit. This is optional, but highly recommended.

Place Myriad on a clean, hard, flat surface with the wing-nuts facing up and the small, rounded notch at the top left when viewed from above:

Loosen and remove each of the four wing-nuts by rotating them counter-clockwise, and set them aside:

Using your palms and the pads of your fingers, hold the “wings” of the top panel and lift it off. Place it top-side down on a soft, lint-free cloth (the supplied dust cover bag is ideal for this):

Hold the left and right tabs of the upper film guide with your fingertips and slide it to the correct preset position for the film you want to digitise, then repeat for the lower film guide.

Fold the supplied anti-static microfibre cloth in half twice to form a loose pad.

While holding the film guides in place, gently wipe the diffuser surface and the edges of the guides (the area shown in red) to get rid of any debris such as dust and fibres. One or two wipes in the same direction should be enough:

Now, use the cloth to gently wipe any debris from the underside of the top panel (the area shown in red):

Holding the top panel by its edges, turn it over and place it back onto the unit, with the notch at the top left to match the diffuser:

Re-fit each of the four wing-nuts by rotating them clockwise onto the threads. When you start to feel resistance, only a small additional turn (about 30 degrees) is needed to achieve the right compression. Avoid over-tightening as it provides no additional benefit and may damage the unit:

Finally, gently wipe the highlighted area of the top panel to remove any debris:

Myriad is now ready for use.
